The Rise of Colors

Gordes, revisited through the memory of the gaze.

For two weeks, I observed Gordes. I explored it through the hours, the light, the encounters, and the emotions. I listened to visitors' gazes fall upon my works, their words, their silences, their memories. Gradually, this village became
much more than a landscape: it became an emotion.

I did not seek to paint Gordes as it is. I wanted to paint it as I
felt it.

The blocks of color tell the many facets of the village, the houses that seem to interlock like so many life stories. The ochres, blues, greens, and lavenders evoke Provence, while the thick textures and drips convey the passage of time, the moments that leave an imprint, the memories that
never fade.

The white lines sketch a free, almost fragile architecture, like a thread of memory connecting each stone, each encounter, each exchanged glance during
this exhibition. They do not seek perfection, but emotion.

In this work, I deliberately took the liberty of reinventing Gordes. Not to reproduce the village, but to reveal what it left in me: an energy, a
light, a human depth.

This painting is an extension of my exhibition "The Memory of the Gaze." It is a testament to two weeks of exchange, trust, sharing, and emotions. A way of saying that some places never truly leave us... because they continue to
live within us, through creation.
