Mes œuvres

My work around sails was born from a deep fascination with the sea, light and movement. Through this series created for Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, I seek to convey an emotion rather than faithfully represent reality. The silhouettes of the sailboats become graphic presences, almost abstract, where colour, material and gesture naturally take precedence over detail.

In this series, the sail becomes a language in itself. To me, it symbolises freedom, travel, speed and elegance. The slender forms of the masts and sails create a powerful verticality, while reflections on the water dissolve into deep blues, luminous turquoise and, at times, vibrant fluorescent colours.

My pictorial work is rooted in spontaneous gestures: splashes, transparencies, layering and palette-knife strokes bring the surface to life. This energy evokes the wind in the sails, the vibrations of the sea and the intensity of the Saint-Tropez regattas. Each painting seeks to convey a sense of continuous movement, as though the sail were carrying on beyond the canvas.

My works deliberately oscillate between figuration and abstraction. The eye immediately recognises the nautical world, yet everyone can project their own emotions and imagination onto it. The sea is not merely represented: it becomes a living, luminous and almost musical material.
